1967 Jaguar XKE FHC Coupe Series IRelisted due to non-paying high bidder.’67 Series Jaguar Type Fixed-Head Coupe. Last of theSeries I’s, and often more desired than earlier Series I’s by people who want acar restored to original spec that can also be driven lot given the full-synchroJaguar gearbox, slightly larger 4.2-litre engine, and slightly more comfortableseats.HistoryI am selling this car for friend who purchased it about ayear ago with the intention of doing high level stock restoration.  With three other British carrestorations on the go and taking longer than he expected, he no longer has thestorage or time to finish the XKE. The car is currently as shown in the photos (all of whichwere taken within the past week), with the bonnet removed, the engine andgearbox out, and the cylinder head and intake/carbs separated from theshortblock. The car has no documented history, but on purchasing it thecurrent owner was told that it was originally sold at British car dealershiphere in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was apparently parked in the mid-‘80s, storedand partially dismantled with the intention of doing full restoration.eBay only allows 24 photos in their listings, but set of almost 200 photos of the car all taken within the past week can be found on my Photobucketaccount at the following link: http://s1346.photobucket.com/user/tiga78/library/Jaguar%20XKE%20FHC%20Series%20I?sort=3&page=1Since being disassembled to the point shown in the photos, the car has moved few times and passed through at least two owners.  To that end, few pieces have likelygone missing over the years, but it appears mostly complete.  All parts included are shown in thephotos; if it’s not in the photos, please assume it is missing and notincluded. Serial NumbersFrom the research that the current owner and have done, the car appears to have matching numbers on all pieces identified on the dataplate, with everything falling in the proper range for Series I.  See the included photos of all numberslisted below.Chassis Number(present on data plate, and stamped into square front frame next to RH wheel): 1E33053Body Number (presenton data plate): 4E24454Engine Number (presenton data plate, front of cylinder head, and right-hand side of block): 7E9259-9Gearbox Number (presenton data plate, and stamped on flange of transmission case): EJ8942HD8 SU CarburetorNumbers: AUD 227F, AUD 227C, and AUD 227R Smiths Gauge ModelNumbers (on faces of each gauge – the suffixes on the fuel/oil/water gaugeswere tough to read with the gauges mounted and are my best guess): Speedometer: SN6322/29 1312Tachometer: RV7414/06 X-100 2-1Fuel Gauge: BF2200/09Oil Pressure Gauge:PE 2300/07Water Temp Gauge:  BT 2200/03  BodyThe body appears to be quite solid.  Previous owners look to have began withsome sanding and minor bodywork in preparation for respray that was nevercompleted.  It looks like thesanded-down paint is likely original (original color appears to be the BritishRacing Green on the rear hatch).  Currentowner and have not noticed any rust through on the body, in the floors, or inthe front subframe tubes.  Itappears as though the rear wheelwells and lower door skins have had bodywork, and there is some primer on the rear chassis (see photos of underside inPhotobucket gallery – am not sure how much of the rear chassis/rear floorpanels have been replaced).  Theworst piece body-wise is the original bonnet, which is included in pieces butquite rough.  It would probably berestorable with fair bit of effort, and its Triplex glass headlamp covers andtrim pieces are in good condition. Also included is second bonnet from alater series XKE in good condition (see photo; the grille opening measures approximately 3/4" 24 1/2", and marker lights are located in the sides above the grille; think this makes it Series 1.5 bonnet); current owner was planning topurchase conversion kit to convert the better late-model bonnet to coveredheadlamps, but that decision will now be up to the buyer and how original theywant the car to be. All glass is intact.MechanicalsCurrent owner believes that the engine was rebuilt in theearly-‘90s, and was told that in the process received brand new factorycrankshaft, new bearings, new pistons, timing chain, etc., and that thecylinder head was also rebuilt. While there are no invoices to substantiate this, the condition of thehead and pieces in the engine visible with the head off seems to support theclaim.  Having said that, theengine and head spent some time in poor storage before the current sellerbought it, and there is some corrosion on exposed surfaces (see photos).  It is likely that teardown and someresurfacing can resolve this. Rotating assembly does turn by hand.Transmission does not appear to have been taken apart, andits condition is unknown.  Brakes, clutch and steering/suspension have not been inspected, so full restorationshould be expected (and it is missing couple of shock absorbers).  Previous owner told current seller thatthe differential was taken apart, refreshed and reassembled (but again, in theearly-‘90s).InteriorInterior is relatively complete and appears original savefor the seat covers and console lid, which have been reupholstered (but theoriginal leather seat covers are included – see photos).  The seats, door cards, dash top, rearhatch upholstery and headliner are not torn, and might be serviceable for adriver with some careful refurbishing. It would all need recovering/replacementfor restoration. Smiths gauges and original switchgear are all intact. Radioand its console are loose, but included (see photos).Wheels TiresCurrent owner was told that the wire wheels werereconditioned and new Dunlop tires mounted in the early-‘90s.  The tires still have their stickers onthem.LogisticsInspection: Thecar is located in storage building slightly outside Winnipeg, Manitoba, ashort distance away from the current seller’s home, but he is available to openthe building for inspections on Wednesday, November 23, and Saturday, November26.  He may be able to arrangeinspections on other days as well. Winnipeg is located about 60 miles north ofthe US border at Pembina, North Dakota, or if flying in, its internationalairport is an approximately 40-minute drive from the car’s location.Payment: Anon-refundable deposit of $2,000.00USD must be made via Paypal within 24 hours of the auction’s close.  Full payment via wire transfer or cashon pickup is required within days of the auction’s close.Shipping: Car willbe sold with bill of sale and clean Manitoba Transfer of Ownership Document(our version of title) in the current seller’s name.  Car needs to be picked up within 30days of the auction’s close, and all shipping arrangements are the buyer’sresponsibility.  Current seller is willing to assist buyer with loading thecar and parts at no charge if buyer picks the car up.  If the car is to be shipped (which, again, the buyer willneed to arrange), we can assist with the packaging and crating of the loosepieces (engine, trans, bonnets, etc.) at shop rate of $50 USD/hour.    Current seller does own truck and enclosed race cartrailer which the car and parts should fit inside.  He is prepared to discuss loading up and delivering it to amutually agreeable location in Canada for export purposes (the nearest USborder crossing to buyer, or best port for international export) for fee thatwould cover all of his expenses and some amount for his time.  However, he is not prepared to take thecar across the Canadian border into the USA.Thanks for looking and good luck.  The car is not advertised anywhere else, so as long as itmeets its reserve (which is less than $30,000), it will sell on eBay.
