1968 FordMustang Historicallymost people know that Lee Iacocca, along with company founder Henry Ford, officially introduced the Mustang at the New York Work’s Fair on April 17,1964. The Mustangs were an immediate andgiant hit and from 1964 ½ to 1968, each year’s update improved the appearanceof the Mustang. By 1968 the Mustang notonly looked great but looked very “husky” with the updated design. Many of us feel that the 1968 Mustang is thebest in the series of original Mustangs. The 1968Mustang convertible in this auction in MissChiTown’s opinion is extremelyattractive because of the color scheme and it is convertible! If you were around in 1968 and were buying aconvertible, even if you had the money to afford an air-conditionedconvertible, you wouldn’t get air. Backthen it didn’t seem to make much sense to have air conditioning if you weregoing to put the top down. Of coursetoday the view is completely different. The point is that there are very few convertible cars of the 1950s and1960s that have factory air conditioning. Thisone rare item makes any convertible special if it has factory air-conditioning. The owner tells us that the air has not beenrun since he purchased the car and will more than likely need more than chargeand will probably need additional work. ThisMustang is equipped with bucket seats, floor shift and very healthy 302engine. The mileage shows 79,436 on theodometer and the owner tells us that the mileage was 75,844 when he purchasedthe car 20 years ago. The owner believesthat this is the original mileage but cannot provide documentation for thesame. The goodlooks of the 1968 Mustand is emphasized by what we think has to be one of the bestcolors of Brittany Blue. The owner tellsus that he believes that the paint is original and that the interior is mostlikely original also. TO VIEW MORE PHOTOS GO TO VIDEO BELOW FOR DETAIL PHOTOS The ownertells us that he has kept the car garaged for the last 20 years of hisownership when not driving it. The few times it happened to start todrizzle when he had the car out he would return it to the garage immediately. The engine is the 302 V8. Floor shift. Automatic transmission floor shift. Power brakes. The top is whiteand was replaced prior to his ownership. The owner tells us that he keeps up on regular maintenance to keep thecar running good. A Mustangconvertible is always fun to drive and is always admired at the local Saturdaynight car shows. Whether you want it fora family car or want to buy it for child or grandchild to take to college, everybodywill know who they are when they drive up in this car! If 1968Mustang is on your bucket list, take close look at this car that has arelatively low reserve (please don’t ask), gorgeous color and of course the airconditioning really sets it apart from other Mustangs. You can feel very comfortable driving it asis or you can spruce it up. This is avery honest car that has been enjoyed by the current owner for the last 20years and is not car that is being “flipped”.
