MOT’d; 2005-19258, 2006-24398,2007-29031, 2008-36249, 2009-43034, 2010-51220, 2011-59741, 2012-69161,2013-78515, 2014-88179, 2015-95440, 2016-102036.Other works carried out include but arenot limited to; inlet manifold associated parts at 80754, spark plugs at81500, N/S/R wheel bearing at 88821, cam-belt tensioner, battery. Theprevious owner told me he’d had friend service the vehicle just before Ibought it and have no reason to disbelieve him. In the brief time haveowned her she’s had brake pads all round, four new tyres and couple of bulbs.I also fitted set of brand new, genuine Ford carpet mats.- THE GOOD -She’s got all the bells and whistlesyou’d expect from Ghia-X model, including; Full leather interior, heatedfront seats, electric driver’s seat, 6-disc CD changer, trip computer, air-con, automatic climate control withfront and rear rapid demist options, heated front and rear screens, heatedwasher jets, heated mirrors, auto-dim rear view mirror, electric mirrors, autoelectric windows all round, electric position sunroof, remote centrallocking, front fog lights, cruise control automatic transmission withoverdrive.- THE BAD -I don’t think there’s panel on the carwhich doesn’t have some sort of ding or scrape. I’m not saying the bodywork istatty! Far from it in fact! For Mondeo of this age the bodywork is remarkablyrobust and well attached, it’s just that over the years she’s touched the oddbollard and acquired the odd stone-chip. She looks fantastic when polished, asyou can see in the pictures. The steering column mounted audiocontrols don’t work. think the last owner probably replaced the radio beforeselling her to me and forgot to plug the little joystick thing in.The height of the driver’s seat base canonly be adjusted manually. The plastic pinion gear which turns the metal wormscrew lost tooth and just whirred to itself. Being 6’ tall just wound itdown as low as it’d go. To prevent any damage to said worm-screw disconnectedthe motor. The reverse parking sensors workintermittently. It’s fairly obvious that this is due to minor parkingindiscretion by former keeper. I’m sure it wouldn’t be too expensive torepair. know how to reverse so I’ve not bothered fixing it myself. There is loose fitting piece of trim inthe boot which rattles occasionally.- THE UGLY -She is due service. I’m fairly confidentthe guy who owned her last had her serviced just before bought her as the oilfilter and oil were clean. The previous owner also told me he’d had the beltsreplaced. While have no reason not to take him at his word, have nopaperwork to back this up.If she doesn’t sell this time out I’llhave the belts done and add the cost to my reserve.- IN SUMMARY -So, there you have it. bought this caras stop-gap between selling my Mini and buying 4x4 and have to say, she’sbeen joy to own. She’s never refused to start, nothing has fallen off (olderMondeos shed bodywork occasionally), I’ve barely had to spend any money on herand she’s been pleasure to drive. Overall, this car is in great shape forit’s age.Roomy and comfy inside with classy blackleather.Completely dependable and lovely to drive. P.S. haven’t been using her all that often of late and she’s sulking. When was driving 40 to 50 miles per day in her she’d return over 30mpg onBP’s ‘Ultimate’ unleaded. I’m currently getting just over 27mpg on Shell’sregular unleaded. In her defence, seldom switch off the a/c and when doit’s because I’ve got the windows open. I’m sure if you filled her up withpremium unleaded and set the cruise control to 55mph for 50 miles this figurewould go up to somewhere near Ford’s claimed mpg figures.
