GeneralI am selling this car on behalf of my brother in law who is employed full time as an aeronautical engineer in Bristol, and is away lot. Aeronautical engineers are really the elite in the engineering world so, as you can imagine, the car has been maintained mechanically to high standard. He has owned the car for over years and is only selling it because he has taken delivery of new lease car, otherwise he would keep it.
I have driven the car about 150 miles in the last 10 days and it drives superbly on all road types and speeds. Infact have been amazed just how well it drives (and I'm used to driving variety of cars like Audi S8, Bentley Continental Etc.) and how little fuel it uses. drove the car from south of Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield about 25 miles, and it achieved 42.3 mpg. If it doesn't sell might even buy it myself as company runaround!
It is worth noting this model Passat (B5.5) has an extremely high safety rating.
Overall ConditionThe car is in excellent working order. Everything works, such as the electrics like windows, dash illumination, instruments etc. all work as they should. The only exception is the aircon does not go cold. However, the climatronic control panel works perfectly, the dot matrix is not missing any dots. suspect the aircon is an easy fix if it bothered you I'm guessing at best re-gas, and at worst replacement condensor or compressor, neither of which are too costly.
Interior very good condition for year and mileage steering wheel etc really nice. Carpets in nice condition. Only trim issues can find are the rear ash tray wont stay closed and the drivers sun visor clip is missing but it still stays out of the way and works fine. one or two other scuffs etc.Exterior paintwork is showing it's age and would benefit from professional machine polish. Some small dents and scrapes. Front off side wing has been replaced recently (they rust through on the right hand side only for some reason) and would benefit from professional paint job, if you were bothered about that sort of thing. Wheels are very presentable.
There is no evidence of any accident damage to this car.

Advisories mentioned on the MOT It could do with an anti roll bar linkage bush replacing. There is slight misting of oil on one of the shocks. The rear disks are pitted, but serviceable. The garage (Tanworth Garage in Tanworth in Arden, south of Birmingham) tell me it is unlikely any of these things will require attention any time soon.
